And we're off!! The second part of our Autumn term has begun and its great to see all the children back after a well deserved half term rest. A few gentle reminders and updates regarding this term:
Changing Times! We are still learning about The Victorians as we've still Loads of fantastic things to get our teeth into from Queen Victoria herself to life on the streets, in factories, up chimneys or anywhere else children could be put! We also have a trip to a Victorian Workhouse to look forward to later this term (November) so take a look at our topic web below for details about what we will be learning!
PE will be on Monday and Thursday afternoons and will continue to have an outdoor feel as we will be doing as much outside as we can (weather permitting). This term we will focus on tag rugby and gymnastics (indoors!) and where possible I recommend trainers as plimsolls just wont make the grade especially for tag rugby. Please remember to label all PE kit. Year 5's will be swimming on Friday mornings so don't forget your kit!
Our new homework seems to be going down well - the children are doing loads of reading which is fantastic! Don't forget to keep an eye on the reading challenge books - we have read a few in Class 4 but need a few more to keep us steaming ahead. Some of the books could make super Christmas presents if you're after an idea or two. TT Rockstars has proved a great success and I am really seeing the children the benefits of quick recall in their maths lessons. Please encourage your children to have a go. It's not all about competitions so if this is holding them back the best place to play is in the garage! Sounds a bit weird but trust me, your children will know what I mean!
Music - going really well for the year 4's and all the children who continued this year ! We are hoping to entertain you at the Christmas Carol Service so please keep encouraging your children to practise as much as possible.
It is a long term this time around but I have lots planned and I am really looking forward to working with the children. Mrs Campana, our trainee teacher, will be with us for the first 5 weeks so there will be plenty of adults to deliver and support our learning. Have a look at our topic web. Before you know it, it will be Christmas!!!!
If you feel you have any spare time or experience or expertise in anything we are learning this term please do not hesitate to come in to share it with us. Any help is always gratefully received!
Finally, please come and find me if you have any questions or give the office a ring to pass on a message.
